History of Nordkette
Nordkette Innsbruck has been a popular destination for tourists since the early 1900s when the first cable car was built to transport visitors to the top of the mountain range. In 1928, the Hungerburg Funicular was constructed, providing visitors with a thrilling way to reach the top of the mountain range. The Seegrube restaurant was also built around the same time, offering visitors a stunning location to dine while taking in the breathtaking views.
In the 1960s, the Hafelekar cable car was constructed, providing visitors with even greater access to the high peaks of the Nordkette range. The Alpine Zoo was opened in 2007, giving visitors the opportunity to get up close and personal with the native wildlife of the region. Today, Nordkette Innsbruck remains a top tourist destination, offering a range of activities and attractions for visitors of all ages, including hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding.
